Abstract
As with early cinema, the serious and general game areas need to expand their collaboration with the technology community to advance games as media and further the technology and related computer science. Achieving this synergy will require additional formal collaborative frameworks with the technology communities. This synergy is perfectly natural - technology is used in all phases of modern videogame development. Many technological communities contribute in obvious ways to create a whole game, an object greater than the sum of its parts. A game technologies task force could strengthen ties between the computer society and the game industry.
