Abstract

Electroencephalography (EEG) is an important bio-potential and has been widely applied in clinical applications. In particular, recent advances in EEG monitoring technologies pave the way for wearable, wireless, flexible EEG monitoring devices. However, current EEG systems require EEG electrodes with conductive gels (wet electrodes) to acquire EEG signal and then transmit these EEG signal to the back-end computer to perform. This also reduces the convenience of use in daily life and increases the limitation of EEG applications. In this study, a novel wearable device for ambulatory monitoring of EEG was proposed. Different from other EEG measurement device, it can provide an excellent performance of avoiding the signal attenuation, phase distortion, and the reduction of common mode rejection ratio. Even under walking motion, it can effectively acquire EEG in hairy site. From the experimental results, the proposed device can provide a good performance of measuring EEG in a hairy site and a good ability to avoid the influence of motion artifact.
