Abstract
Intrusion detection technology is a version of security technology that monitors systems to detect and handle malicious activities. The most important purpose of an intrusion detection system is to identify attacks against computer systems and connected networks. Thus, network intrusion detection continues to be a highly relevant research topic. This paper reflects our efforts to provide an updated taxonomy of IDS research as basic platform for comparison of various algorithm and strategy implementations of IDS. Although IDS technology has been reviewed over the years, fast-paced progress in the cybersecurity and networked field necessitates ongoing efforts
