Abstract

The fluctuation characteristics of multiple-source interference synthesized polarization indeed pose challenges to the anti-interference and target detection performance of polarimetric radar. This paper focuses on the statistical characteristics of the radar degree of polarization (DoP) estimation in multiple-source interference environment. A probability density function (PDF) model of the DoP estimation is derived from observation samples’ polarization Stokes vector in closed forms. The simulation experiment results have verified the correctness of the proposed PDF model, which can be used for the design of polarized filters and target detectors to enhance interference suppression and target detection performance.
