Abstract
Refractions, caustics and dispersions are very important for rendering global illumination images. Caustic is a phenomenon in which multiple light rays, through refractive or reflective objects, converge at a common region, thus creating a bright area. Dispersion is a special caustic effect that takes into account the different refractive indices of monochromatic lights which have different wavelengths. Although there are various works for rendering caustics interactively, there are few algorithms for dispersions. In this paper, we extend the image- space rendering algorithm for caustic to render the dispersion in real time. Rendered results prove that our method is able to render plausible images for many interactive applications.
