Abstract
In order to display the details from dark area to bright area in high dynamic range infrared image effectively, this paper proposes a brightness segmentation method for high dynamic range infrared image. The method considers the characteristics of human visual perception and the gray histogram distribution of high dynamic range infrared image. The proposed method is used to test the high dynamic range infrared images obtained in different scenes, and the experimental results show that the method is effective and robust. Based on the brightness region segmentation results of the proposed method, a number of different enhancement algorithms can be applied selectively to the different regions of high dynamic range infrared image to achieve a better overall enhancement than applying a single technique globally.
