Abstract
In order to solve the problems of real-time techniques in traditional environmental monitoring system and the high expenditure of complex modern facilities, a low-cost real-time remote environmental monitoring system based on GSM short message was designed. It is made up of wireless environment monitoring equipment (WEME) and mobile phones. WEME uses solar power and has standard multi-pins data interface which can be connected with various sensors according to actual demands. And the mobile phone is also used to realize some functions such as parameters management, remote information inquiry, environmental threshold setting etc. Test results indicate that the system can realize real-time information inquiry, and WEME will send a warning message to the mobile phone when the system detects the environment parameters exceed their threshold range. The system can meet the needs of online information acquisition, remote inquiry and real-time warning. Meanwhile it has some advantages of wide application and reconfigurable monitoring type. This study can offer a general solution for small-scale crops on real-time monitoring and early warning.
