Abstract

The paper considers the route distortion of Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) mobile underwater acoustic networks consisting of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV’s). The AUV’s transmit the information along a multihop route through the network. The stop and wait retransmission protocol is realized on a hop-by-hop basis. The focus is on the manner in which MIMO communication and retransmission protocols can improve the network reliability in the presence of interference. The path loss is frequency dependent. The fading is Ricean. The distortion performance is illustrated by numerical examples.
