This panel will explore the emerging computational and communication challenges faced with the adoption of sustainable energy resources into the power grid. It will specifically explore (i) new computational platforms enabling the broader adoption of renewable energy (e.g., blockchains, IoT), (ii) control, market, and algorithmic approaches to renewable integration (e.g., transactive energy), and (iii) co-simulation platforms to help validate whether new techniques can accurately manage loads and energy integration. The panel will incorporate speakers across academia, national laboratories, and government experts within the area of renewable energy technologies and associated computational approaches. Furthermore, it will include speakers addressing a range of previous work, including both theoretical contributions and pilot projects.
