Abstract
Satellite communications on-the-move (SOTM) often experiences an interruption in reliable data communications when man-made objects, terrain. and foliage block the satellite link. In this paper, we investigate the effects of such link blockages on the performance of a TCP connection., and provide a solution based on TCP gateways that implement a TCP-splitting technique to overcome the satellite link limitations. We show an experimental study of using and adequately configuring the TCP gateway to recover data quickly from the link blockage.
