Abstract
Pervasive applications support people in various situations. In smart cities additional infrastructure, like public displays, extends the functionality of pervasive applications. Even though, public display technology is available and is also adopted by users, they are not present in smart cities with few exceptions. We identified the lack of financial incentives and cost transparencies as the main issues to deploy displays in public places. In this paper, we present smart city displays, our vision to launch interactive public displays on a large scale. We discuss influence factors and derive requirements for our system design. Further, we develop a comprehensive billing model, which consists of multiple strategies and identify hybrid billing solutions for complex scenarios.
