CVPR Earns Number Two Spot in Google’s 2024 Scholar Metrics Ratings

IEEE CS Conferences and Journals Lead Field in Latest Patent Citation Rankings

Conferences and Publications Recognized as Leading Publishing PlatformsThe IEEE Computer Society (CS), the leading computer science and engineering member community providing best-in-class publications, conferences, and programs, announced today that it continues to be recognized as the preferred publishing platform for the global science and engineering community.

2024 Google Scholar Metrics

First, the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) Conference, cosponsored by IEEE CS, earned the number two spot in Google’s 2024 Scholar Metrics. Google’s Scholar Metrics rate the visibility and influence of publications based on the number of articles and citations from journals and select Engineering and Computer Science conferences. Achieving an H5-Index of 440, CVPR outperformed other prestigious scientific journals including The New England Journal of Medicine, Science, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and others. 1

2024 Analysis of U.S. Patent Referencing Report

Additionally, the 2024 Analysis of U.S. Patent Referencing to IEEE Papers established that IEEE and IEEE CS journals and conferences led the field in patent citation rankings. According to the latest rankings, patents issued to leading firms between 2004 and 2023 referenced IEEE and IEEE CS journals, conferences, and standards 682,113 times, which is three times as many references as the second-ranked scientific publisher. IEEE and IEEE CS journals and conferences received 25% of the science references from the patents of top companies, with the next closest publisher only amassing 8.8% of the total.

“At IEEE CS, we pride ourselves in being the leading publishing platform for the full scope of computer science and engineering research,” said Jyotika Athavale, IEEE Computer Society 2024 President. “Recognitions like these validate the reach and influence of IEEE CS events and publications, and demonstrate the impact they have on advancing the field. We are proud to serve as the industry’s primary platform for high-quality research and thank the community for selecting IEEE CS to publish work that stands to benefit the world at large.”

About the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) Conference

The Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR) is the preeminent computer vision event for new research in support of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), augmented, virtual and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR), deep learning, and much more. Sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society (CS) and the Computer Vision Foundation (CVF), CVPR delivers the important advances in all areas of computer vision and pattern recognition and the various fields and industries they impact. With a first-in-class technical program, including tutorials and workshops, a leading-edge expo, and robust networking opportunities, CVPR, which is annually attended by more than 10,000 scientists and engineers, creates a one-of-a-kind opportunity for networking, recruiting, inspiration, and motivation.

CVPR 2025 takes place 10-17 June at the Music City Center in Nashville, TN, U.S.A. For more information about CVPR 2025, visit https://cvpr.thecvf.com/Conferences/2025.
