Abstract
The door slam noise is a quality issue concerning both automobile designers and customers. In order to improve the door sound quality of a SUV, separation noise source and evaluation method are investigated. First, typical psychoacoustic parameters closely reflecting subjective feelings are determined by correlation analysis. Then based on a designed test program, acoustic positioning technology is introduced to distinguish the main sound sources, and reasons of the door slam noise are discussed by wavelet analysis. Moreover, an improvement scheme on sealing strip is proposed to decrease the door slam noise and improve the sound quality, and comparisons by objective evaluation are given to verify the optimization results. Finally, combined with subjective evaluation, consistency tests are presented to confirm the improved effects of the door sound quality. Related analyses show that loudness and sharpness have good correlation with subjective, and the consistency tests by subjective and objective evaluations indicate that the proposed improvement scheme based on acoustic positioning technology and wavelet analysis has huge effect on improving the door sound quality. The research methods and process could provide a reference for the development of vehicle NVH.
