Abstract
The construction of virtual 3 0 scene is mostly based on VRMLlX3D methods, which lacks the ability to dynamically modified to customize, to reuse and to extend. In accordance with the features of digital science museum, the paper discusses the database- driven descriptive model of scene based on X-VRML. The model adopts the principle of dividing scene, and it is supported by the structure of scene and the storage of attribute information. According to the level, the model is constructed. Primary elements of scene are customized in structure, semantics and style by X- VRML schema. In consequence, model-description documents of X-VRML are formed. Mixed architecture both sewer side and client side is used to eventually generate instances of 3D scenes. drawback limiting the use of VRML is the lack of convenient database access methods. All the above mentioned problems can be overcome by the use of the X-VRML language which is a high-level XML-based language. The X-VRML language has been designed to enable dynamic modeling of virtual reality. The X-VRML language provides convenient access to databases. The data retrieved from the database can affect all aspects of the dynamically generated virtual scenes[2,3,5]. After creating the X-VRML models (i.e. descriptive documents) of science museum, the documents will be interpreted. The method accelerates the development of 3D virtual science museum. 2.
