Abstract

HDTV has been the most promising candidate for the next generation electronic consumer products in the past ten years. However, the market is still not taking off. The main reason for the delay is the difficulty to obtain an agreement for a unified standard in the world. In 1990, CCIR published the recommendation of the HDTV standard. That will accelerate the market. On the other hand, LSI technology was not enough for realizing an economical HDTV receiver at the early development time, but there should be no problem in mid 1990s.<>
