Emerging Tech Program helps fuel development of new initiatives that leverage new technology and applications to benefit humanity
LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 20 March 2024 – Today, the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE CS) announced the opening of the Call for Proposals for the 2024 Emerging Tech Grants Program. The Emerging Tech Grants Program, which awards individual recipients up to US $50,0000 each, helps fuel the development of new initiatives that leverage emerging technology or applications and benefit the computer science and engineering community and society at large.
This year, IEEE CS is seeking proposals that leverage out-of-the-box thinking; utilize the latest technological advancements; embrace concepts that will convene a community around an emerging technology; or advance an idea from either the IEEE Future Directions Roadmap or the IEEE CS 2023 Technology Predictions. Proposals will be evaluated for innovation/creativity; impact on target audience and humanity; potential impact on IEEE CS and members; and relevance to computing; among others. Proposals submitted must be completed between 1 July 2024 and 31 December 2025. Recipients of the 2024 Emerging Tech Grants Program will be notified by early June.
The Emerging Tech Grants Program, now in its third year, was established in 2021 by IEEE CS to support the advancement of initiatives not currently or adequately addressed by existing work within the Society. In this way, the Emerging Tech Grants Program helps further technological development and drives value for not only the computing community but also society at large. Past recipients of the Emerging Tech Grant Program include programs that created student competitions, lecture programs, discussion forums, hackathons, and more.
The 2024 Emerging Tech Grants Program Call for Proposals closes 21 April 2024. For more information or to submit a proposal, visit https://www.computer.org/communities/emerging-technology-fund.
